Introduction

The Dreame L40 Ultra and the Roborock Qrevo S Pro represent two distinct philosophies within the high-end range of robot vacuum cleaners with multifunction base. The Dreame model arrived on the market in 2024, whilst the Qrevo S Pro was launched in April 2026. Both units are designed for users seeking total autonomy in home maintenance, with hot water mop washing systems and hot air drying.

The Dreame L40 Ultra stands out for its focus on advanced artificial intelligence, with dual camera and more than 100 recognisable objects. The Qrevo S Pro opts for extraordinary suction power of 18,500 Pa, widely surpassing the 11,000 Pa of the Dreame model. This power difference marks different usage profiles, especially in homes with carpets or pets that shed a lot of hair.

Power and Suction

The most striking difference in this section is the suction power. The Roborock Qrevo S Pro reaches 18,500 Pa, a figure that places it amongst the most powerful robots on the market. Against this, the Dreame L40 Ultra offers 11,000 Pa, a power more than sufficient for most situations but clearly inferior.

In practice, this difference is particularly noticeable on long-pile carpets or when there is accumulated ingrained dirt. The Qrevo S Pro has more margin to work at medium powers without losing effectiveness, which can translate into less noise during daily use.

The main brush of the L40 Ultra is a TriCut 3.0, which combines bristles with blades to reduce hair tangles. The Qrevo S Pro mounts a simple brush, without additional specifications. Both models include anti-tangle side brushes.

Where the Dreame makes a difference is in brush lifting. Both the main brush and the side brush can be raised during mopping, preventing them from getting wet and staining carpets. The Roborock does not have these lifting features, which limits its versatility in homes with a mixture of hard floors and carpets. The side brush of the L40 Ultra is also extendable, which improves cleaning in corners and edges.

Mopping

Both robots use two rotating mops, but the Dreame L40 Ultra system incorporates extension with movement, which allows better reach to edges and skirting boards. The Qrevo S Pro does not have this function.

Mop lifting is practically identical: 10.5 mm on the L40 Ultra and 10 mm on the Qrevo S Pro. Sufficient to avoid medium-thickness carpets. Both mop with cold water.

The Dreame stands out for its ability to automatically remove the mops at the base when only vacuuming is needed. This avoids dragging dry mops across the floor, something the Roborock cannot do. Additionally, the L40 Ultra incorporates dirt detection on both the mops and the floor, allowing automatic rewashing and rescrubbing in particularly dirty areas. The Roborock model lacks these functions.

Both bases wash the mops with hot water and dry them with hot air, guaranteeing hygiene and avoiding bad odours. However, the Dreame base includes second-generation tray self-cleaning, which reduces manual maintenance. The Qrevo S Pro does not have tray self-cleaning.

Navigation System

Both units use third-generation LiDAR turret to map the home with precision. The big difference lies in the obstacle avoidance system.

The Dreame L40 Ultra mounts dual AI camera and front 3D laser sensor, capable of recognising more than 100 different objects. It identifies pets, detects curtains to avoid getting caught and has LED for night vision. Additionally, it allows remote access to the camera, useful for home surveillance.

The Roborock Qrevo S Pro has obstacle avoidance but without AI camera or front 3D laser sensor. It does not specify the number of objects it recognises nor does it include functions such as pet or curtain detection. It also does not offer remote camera access or front LED.

Regarding intelligent cleaning, the L40 Ultra integrates CleanGenius with AI stain recognition. The Qrevo S Pro uses SmartPlan 2.0, although without the visual recognition capabilities of the Dreame model. The processor of the L40 Ultra is the AI Sage 11.0 Qualcomm; the Roborock's is not specified.

Autonomy and Battery

Both robots mount 5,200 mAh batteries. The declared autonomy is 194 minutes on the Dreame L40 Ultra and 180 minutes on the Roborock Qrevo S Pro. A minimal difference that in practice is barely noticeable.

Both autonomies are sufficient for dwellings of up to 200 square metres on a single charge. In larger homes, the robots automatically manage intermediate recharges before completing the cleaning.

Smart Functions

The Dreame L40 Ultra can overcome obstacles up to 22 mm in height, whilst the Roborock Qrevo S Pro reaches 20 mm. Two millimetres of difference that can be decisive with certain types of thick carpets or door thresholds.

The L40 Ultra incorporates its own voice assistant, in addition to compatibility with Alexa and Google Home. The Qrevo S Pro is only compatible with external assistants, without integrated own voice.

Multifunction Cleaning Base

Both bases perform auto-emptying of the dust container, hot water mop washing and hot air drying. The differences lie in the details and capabilities.

The Dreame L40 Ultra base includes a detergent tank, something the Qrevo S Pro does not offer. This allows adding cleaning product that is automatically dispensed during mop washing. Additionally, the second-generation tray self-cleaning of the L40 Ultra significantly reduces manual maintenance. The Roborock does not automatically clean its tray.

Regarding capacities, the Dreame dust bag has 3.2 litres versus the Roborock's 2.7. The clean water tank is 4.5 litres on the L40 Ultra and 4 litres on the Qrevo S Pro. Dirty water is stored in 4 litres and 3.5 litres respectively. Small differences but which can translate into fewer emptyings and refills in large homes.

The L40 Ultra offers an optional plumbing connection kit that is purchased separately. The Qrevo S Pro does not have this option.

Dimensions

The diameter of both robots is practically identical: 350 mm on the Dreame and 353 mm on the Roborock. The important difference lies in the height: the Qrevo S Pro measures 96.5 mm, whilst the L40 Ultra reaches 103.8 mm. More than 7 millimetres that can make the difference when passing under low furniture, sofas or beds with little space.

The bases have similar dimensions in width (340 mm both) but differ in height and depth. The Dreame's is taller (590.5 mm versus 519 mm) but less deep (456.7 mm versus 487 mm). It is advisable to measure the available space before deciding.

Real-World Usage Experience

For dwellings with carpets and pets that shed a lot of hair, the Roborock Qrevo S Pro offers clear advantages thanks to its 18,500 Pa of power. The extra suction makes a difference on long-pile carpets or when there is pet hair accumulation.

The Dreame L40 Ultra proves more versatile in homes with a mixture of hard floors and carpets, thanks to brush lifting and automatic mop removal. Dirt detection and automatic rescrubbing of stained areas also provide convenience. The detergent tank and tray self-cleaning reduce manual maintenance.

In homes with pets or young children, the dual AI camera of the L40 Ultra and its recognition of more than 100 objects avoids jams and improves navigation. Remote camera access adds extra functionality such as surveillance.

If there is low furniture, the Roborock Qrevo S Pro has an advantage with its 96.5 mm height. The Dreame, at 103.8 mm, may have problems in very tight spaces.

Conclusion: Which to Choose?

Choose the Dreame L40 Ultra if: You seek a robot with maximum maintenance autonomy thanks to automatic mop removal, dirt detection and tray self-cleaning. If you value advanced artificial intelligence with dual camera, pet recognition and remote camera access. Ideal for homes with a mixture of floors and carpets due to brush lifting, and if you prefer to use detergent automatically in mop washing. Mop extension with movement improves mopping on edges.

Choose the Roborock Qrevo S Pro if: You need the maximum available suction power (18,500 Pa) for thick carpets or abundant pet hair. If you have low furniture and need a robot of lower height (96.5 mm). Perfect for those who prioritise raw power over advanced AI functions. Roborock's reliability as a world-leading brand and its established app are points in favour. Good option if you do not need a detergent tank or tray self-cleaning.
