Introduction

The Dreame family expands its high-end robot offering with two models that share a surname but represent different generations. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra arrived in 2025 as a complete solution for those seeking advanced mopping and extended autonomy. A year later, the Dreame L50s Pro Ultra marks a notable leap in power and obstacle recognition capability, whilst maintaining the same design and functionality philosophy. Facing them, the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 from May 2026 proposes a different approach with its retractable navigation system and warm water for mopping, features that position it as an interesting alternative in this robot vacuum comparison.

All three units feature a multifunction base that washes and dries the mops automatically, guaranteeing effective mopping in medium and large-sized homes. The main difference between them lies in suction power, the navigation system and some mopping details that can make a difference to the daily user experience.

Power and Suction

Suction power marks the first relevant difference. The Dreame L50s Pro Ultra leads with 30,000 Pa, a figure that widely surpasses the 19,000 Pa of the L40s Pro Ultra. This difference translates into greater capacity to extract ingrained dirt from carpets and to pick up heavier particles. The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 sits at an intermediate point with 25,000 Pa, sufficient for most domestic situations.

Regarding the brushing system, the L40s Pro Ultra and the L50s Pro Ultra share the same dual HyperStream brush design, a configuration that significantly reduces hair tangles. The Roborock opts for its DuoDivide Anti-Tangle system, which pushes hairs towards the centre to facilitate suction. Both solutions work well in homes with pets, although the approach is different.

All three robots lift the main brush during mopping to prevent it from getting wet and dragging dirt. The extendable side brush is present in all, allowing better sweeping of corners. However, only the Dreame models also lift the side brush during mopping, a detail that avoids splashing and improves cleaning at the edges.

Mopping

All incorporate a dual rotating mop system with edge extension. The Dreame models add the Roboswing system, which allows the robot to perform a swaying movement to introduce the mop under overhangs and furniture. This function is not mentioned in the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2.

Mop lift is slightly higher in the Roborock, with 12 mm compared to the 10.5 mm of the Dreame models. Those extra millimetres can prove useful on medium-pile carpets, although in practice both solutions work well to prevent the mops from touching unwanted surfaces.

Floor mopping presents a notable difference: the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 uses warm water, whilst the two Dreame models use cold water. Warm water helps to better dissolve grease and certain stains, which can make a difference in kitchens or high-traffic areas.

In the base, all three wash the mops with hot water. The Dreame models feature third-generation tray self-cleaning, whilst the Roborock incorporates version 2.0. Drying is carried out with hot air in all cases, guaranteeing that the mops are ready for the next cycle without bad odours.

The Dreame models integrate a detergent tank in the base, dispensing product during mop washing. This function is not available in the Roborock, which requires using only water or manually adding detergent to the clean water tank.

Navigation System

The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 stands out for its retractable LiDAR turret, which reduces the robot's total height to 79.8 mm. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and L50s Pro Ultra maintain a fixed LiDAR turret and reach 103.8 mm. This difference of more than 2 centimetres allows the Roborock to access under furniture where the Dreame models cannot enter.

All three units feature dual AI camera, front 3D laser sensor, LED for night vision and remote camera access. Obstacle recognition capability varies considerably: the Roborock identifies up to 280 different objects, the Dreame L50s Pro Ultra reaches 220 and the L40s Pro Ultra remains at 180. In homes with many objects on the floor or with young children, this difference can be noticed in the fluidity of cleaning.

All recognise pets, detect curtains and adjust cleaning according to the type of dirt detected. The Dreame uses its CleanGenius system for intelligent cleaning, whilst the Roborock opts for SmartPlan. Both systems work well, adapting routes and power according to the needs of each area.

Autonomy and Battery

All three robots are equipped with a 5,200 mAh battery. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra offers 220 minutes of autonomy, sufficient for homes of up to 200-250 m². The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 declares 188 minutes, a somewhat lower figure but adequate for most homes. Data on autonomy is not available for the Dreame L50s Pro Ultra, although as it shares a battery with the L40s Pro Ultra, it is usual for it to offer similar or slightly lower figures due to its greater suction power.

Smart Functions

The ability to overcome obstacles differs between models. The Dreame models can overcome simple steps without specifying the exact height, whilst the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 declares 20 mm. In homes with small level differences between rooms or with thick carpets, this information proves useful.

All three robots integrate their own voice assistant and are compatible with Alexa and Google Home, facilitating control by voice commands without needing to open the app.

Multifunction Cleaning Base

All three bases feature auto-emptying of the dust bin, washing and drying of mops with hot water and air. The Dreame models' dust bag has a capacity of 3.2 litres, compared to the 2.7 litres of the Roborock. This difference translates into longer time between bag changes, especially in large homes or with pets.

The clean and dirty water tanks are more generous in the Dreame models: 4.5 and 4 litres respectively, compared to the 4 and 3.5 litres of the Roborock. For homes of more than 100 m² with frequent mopping, this extra capacity reduces interruptions to refill or empty tanks.

The Dreame models offer an optional plumbing connection kit, which is purchased separately. This option allows complete automation of water filling and emptying, although it requires installation and does not come integrated as standard. The Roborock does not have this possibility.

Dimensions

The diameter is practically identical in all three: between 350 and 352 mm. Height marks the main difference. The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 measures 79.8 mm, allowing it to pass under beds, sofas and low furniture where the Dreame models, at 103.8 mm, cannot access. This advantage can be decisive if you have furniture with little separation from the floor.

The bases have similar dimensions in width (340 mm in all), but vary in height and depth. The Dreame models measure 590-590.5 mm high and 456.7-457 mm deep, whilst the Roborock reaches 521 mm high and 487 mm deep. In confined spaces, it is advisable to measure before deciding.

The robot's dust bin varies: 300 ml in the L40s Pro Ultra, 250 ml in the L50s Pro Ultra and 240 ml in the Roborock. The robot's water tank is 80 ml in both Dreame models and 67 ml in the Roborock. These differences have little practical impact, as the base handles automatic emptying and filling.

Real-World User Experience

For large homes of more than 150 m², the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra offers greater declared autonomy (220 minutes) and more generous tanks in the base, reducing interruptions. The Dreame L50s Pro Ultra provides greater suction power, useful if you have thick carpets or pets that shed a lot of hair. The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 fits better in homes with low furniture, thanks to its reduced height, and its warm water for mopping can make a difference on kitchen floors.

In homes with pets, the anti-tangle systems of all three work well. The greater power of the L50s Pro Ultra facilitates the collection of hair embedded in carpets. The Roborock, with its greater obstacle recognition capability, better avoids pet toys or feeding bowls.

Mopping is effective in all three, although the Roborock's warm water better dissolves certain stains. The Dreame models compensate with the integrated detergent tank, which adds product during mop washing without manual intervention. For parquet or wooden floors, mop lift works correctly in all, avoiding unwanted moisture.

Conclusion: Which to Choose?

Choose the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra if you seek extended autonomy for large homes, value higher capacity tanks in the base and prefer an established model with a good balance between features and price. It is a solid option for homes of up to 200 m² with frequent mopping needs and automatic detergent dispensing.

Choose the Dreame L50s Pro Ultra if you need the maximum suction power available in this comparison, have thick carpets or pets that shed a lot of hair, and want the most advanced obstacle recognition system within the Dreame range. The improvement in power and object recognition justifies the difference compared to the L40s Pro Ultra in demanding homes.

Choose the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 if you have low furniture under which you need to clean, value warm water for more effective mopping in kitchens and high-traffic areas, and prefer the retractable navigation system that reduces the robot's height. Its ability to recognise up to 280 obstacles makes it an excellent option for homes with young children or many objects on the floor. The absence of an automatic detergent tank can be offset by its greater recognition capability and its more compact design in height.
