Introduction

Dreame presents three consecutive generations of robot vacuum cleaners that share many features but with strategic differences in navigation and performance. The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 arrived in November 2025, whilst the Dreame L40 Ultra AE was launched that same year and the Dreame L50 Ultra AE appeared in March 2026. All three units incorporate a multifunction base with auto-emptying, mop washing and hot air drying, which places them in the manufacturer's premium range.

These models are designed for homes seeking complete cleaning autonomy, with the capacity to manage both vacuuming and mopping with minimal manual intervention. The differences between them are concentrated mainly in suction power, intelligent navigation and some details of the brushing system that are worth analysing according to the type of home.

Power and Suction

Suction power marks significant differences. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE reaches 28,000 Pa, making it the most powerful of the three. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 offers 25,000 Pa, a very competent figure, whilst the L40 Ultra AE remains at 19,000 Pa. In practice, these differences are particularly noticeable on medium-long pile carpets and in the ability to pick up ingrained dirt.

The brushing system presents important variations. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 mounts a SimpleCut brush, designed to reduce hair tangles. The other two models incorporate the TriCut 3.0 system, which combines bristles with blades to cut tangled hair more effectively. This detail is relevant in homes with long-haired pets.

A key functional difference: the main brush of the L40 Ultra AE and the L50 Ultra AE rises during mopping, something the L10s Ultra Gen 3 does not do. This prevents the brush from interfering with the mops and allows more efficient mopping without dragging dry dirt across the wet floor.

As for the side brush, the L10s Ultra Gen 3 and the L50 Ultra AE feature an extendable version to improve corner cleaning. The L40 Ultra AE lacks this function. Additionally, only the L50 Ultra AE includes an anti-tangle side brush, which facilitates maintenance in homes with pet hair or long human hair.

Mopping

All three robots use a two rotating mop system with edge extension and Roboswing movement, which allows the mops to slightly reach under overhangs and furniture. Mop lift reaches 10.5 mm in all cases, sufficient to climb over thin carpets without wetting them.

The Dreame L50 Ultra AE introduces a function that the other two do not have: automatic mop removal at the base. This allows vacuuming without mopping in a completely autonomous way, without the need to manually remove the mops when you only want to vacuum. For those who regularly alternate between both cleaning modes, this represents notable convenience.

The L40 Ultra AE stands out for its dirt detection system on both the mops and the floor. When it detects that the mops are dirty, it returns to the base to wash them before continuing. If it detects particularly dirty areas on the floor, it scrubs those areas with greater intensity. Neither the L10s nor the L50 offer this automatic adjustment capability.

The base of all three models washes the mops with hot water at 65°C and dries them with hot air at 50°C. The washing tray self-cleaning is third generation in the L10s Ultra Gen 3 and the L50 Ultra AE, whilst the L40 Ultra AE mounts the second generation. This may translate into slightly easier maintenance in the models with third-generation system.

Navigation System

Here we find the most marked difference between these three robots. The Dreame L40 Ultra AE incorporates an AI camera with remote access, night vision LED and the capacity to recognise up to 120 different types of obstacles. This allows it to precisely identify small objects, cables, socks or toys, and adjust its cleaning route accordingly.

Remote access to the L40 Ultra AE camera allows you to monitor the house from your mobile whilst the robot cleans, a function that can be useful for basic home surveillance or to locate lost objects. Neither the L10s Ultra Gen 3 nor the L50 Ultra AE have a camera, so they lack these capabilities.

All three models mount a LiDAR turret and front 3D laser sensor for navigation and obstacle avoidance. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 and the L40 Ultra AE recognise pets, which allows them to adjust their behaviour when they detect animals. The L50 Ultra AE does not include this pet recognition function.

The L10s Ultra Gen 3 and the L40 Ultra AE integrate the CleanGenius system, which optimises routes and cleaning patterns using artificial intelligence. The L50 Ultra AE does not have this technology, which may translate into somewhat less refined route planning.

Autonomy and Battery

Battery capacity is identical in all three models: 5,200 mAh. Only the autonomy of the Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 is specified, which reaches 231 minutes of continuous operation. This figure allows cleaning sizeable homes in a single session without the need for intermediate recharging.

Although the exact minutes of autonomy for the L40 and L50 are not detailed, the shared battery capacity suggests similar performance, with possible variations depending on the suction power used and the active cleaning mode.

Smart Functions

All three robots overcome obstacles up to 20 mm in height, which allows them to move between rooms with small level changes or climb over thick carpets without getting stuck. None incorporates a robotic arm or its own voice assistant, but all are compatible with Alexa and Google Home for voice control.

Multifunction Cleaning Base

The bases of all three models share most specifications: 3.2-litre dust bag, 4.5-litre clean water tank and 4-litre dirty water tank. All include a detergent tank and offer an optional kit for connection to water pipes, although this accessory is purchased separately.

The main difference in the bases lies in the generation of the washing tray self-cleaning system. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 and the L50 Ultra AE mount the third generation, whilst the L40 Ultra AE uses the second. In practice, this may mean deeper cleaning of the base itself and less need for manual maintenance in the models with the more recent system.

Dimensions

All three robots measure exactly the same: 350 mm in diameter and 97 mm in height. This height of 9.7 cm allows them to slip under most furniture, sofas and beds with standard height legs.

The bases also present practically identical dimensions, with 340 mm width and slight variations in height and depth that are irrelevant in practice: the L40 measures 590.5 mm high versus 590 mm for the other two, and 456.7 mm deep versus 457 mm. Millimetric differences that do not affect the location of the base in the home.

Real-World Experience

The Dreame L40 Ultra AE is especially interesting for those who value visual monitoring and advanced artificial intelligence. Its camera with remote access and capacity to recognise 120 obstacles makes it the most versatile option for homes with many objects on the floor, young children who leave toys scattered about or pets. Dirt detection on mops and floor optimises mopping without manual intervention.

The Dreame L50 Ultra AE stands out for its superior suction power and automatic mop removal. For large homes with carpets or that frequently alternate between vacuuming and mopping, these functions provide real convenience. The anti-tangle side brush reduces maintenance in homes with pets, although curiously this model does not recognise animals as the other two do.

The L10s Ultra Gen 3 offers a solid balance with good suction power, extendable side brush and pet recognition. Its CleanGenius system and third-generation tray self-cleaning position it as a complete option for those seeking advanced features without the need for a surveillance camera. The robot's 300 ml dust bin is midway between the other two models.

In homes with long-haired pets, the TriCut 3.0 system of the L40 and L50 handles tangles better than the SimpleCut of the L10s. The main brush lift during mopping on the L40 and L50 also improves results on mixed floors where vacuuming and mopping alternate in the same session.

Conclusion: Which to Choose?

Choose the Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 if you're looking for a complete robot with good suction power (25,000 Pa), pet recognition and CleanGenius system for intelligent route optimisation. Its extendable side brush improves corner cleaning, and the third-generation tray self-cleaning reduces maintenance. It is suitable for medium-large homes that do not need a surveillance camera or maximum suction power.

Choose the Dreame L40 Ultra AE if you value intelligent visual navigation and remote monitoring. Its camera with mobile access, night vision LED and recognition of 120 obstacles make it the most advanced option in artificial intelligence. Dirt detection on mops and floor optimises mopping automatically. Ideal for homes with young children, many objects on the floor or those who wish to use the camera for basic home surveillance. The robot's 395 ml dust bin is the largest of the three.

Choose the Dreame L50 Ultra AE if you prioritise maximum suction power (28,000 Pa) and the convenience of automatic mop removal. Its anti-tangle and extendable side brush facilitates maintenance in homes with pets, although it does not recognise animals like the other two models. The function to automatically remove the mops at the base to vacuum without mopping is very practical if you regularly alternate between both modes. Recommended for large homes with thick carpets or difficult dirt that requires maximum suction capacity.
