Introduction
Choosing between models from the same family can be more complicated than it seems. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE arrives in March 2026 as the brand's most advanced offering, whilst the Mova E40 Ultra and Mova P50 Ultra represent the 2025 options under Dreame's second brand. All three units share a similar architecture: laser navigation, multifunctional bases with mop washing and drying, and 5,200 mAh batteries. However, the technical differences between them define quite distinct usage profiles.
The Dreame model positions itself as the most comprehensive in vacuuming performance and maintenance autonomy. The Mova E40 Ultra focuses on artificial intelligence to optimise cleaning, whilst the Mova P50 Ultra incorporates specific functions for homes with curtains and component lifting requirements.
Power and Suction
The most evident difference between these robots lies in suction power. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE reaches 28,000 Pa, a figure that exceeds by 9,000 Pa the 19,000 Pa offered by both the Mova E40 Ultra and the Mova P50 Ultra. This gap is particularly noticeable on medium or long pile carpets, where the capacity to extract embedded dirt improves considerably with greater power.
The brushing system also varies. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE incorporates the TriCut 3.0 brush, designed with bristles and blades that cut tangled hair during vacuuming. Both Mova models use a simplified brush which, whilst functional, doesn't offer the same anti-tangle capability. In homes with long-haired pets, this difference can translate into less manual brush maintenance.
Regarding main brush lifting during mopping, the Dreame L50 Ultra AE and the Mova P50 Ultra do feature this function, whilst the Mova E40 Ultra does not. This allows the former to prevent the brush from getting unnecessarily wet and improves mopping efficiency by not dragging dirt from the brush onto the mops.
The side brush also presents differences. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE and the Mova P50 Ultra have an extendable side brush, useful for better reaching corners. Only the Mova P50 Ultra incorporates side brush lifting during mopping, which prevents splashing and the brush interfering with the mops. All three models feature an anti-tangle side brush.
Mopping
All three robots employ a system of two rotating mops with edge extension and Roboswing movement, which allows the mops to slightly reach under furniture overhangs. Mop lifting reaches 10.5 mm in all three cases, sufficient to pass over thin carpets without wetting them. All mop with cold water.
The main difference lies in automatic mop removal. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE can remove the mops at the base when only vacuuming is desired, avoiding dragging them unnecessarily throughout the house. Neither the Mova E40 Ultra nor the Mova P50 Ultra offer this function, which requires manual removal if only vacuuming is wanted.
None of the three models incorporate dirt detection in mops or on the floor, so they don't perform automatic re-scrubbing of particularly dirty areas.
Navigation System
All three units use a LiDAR turret to map the home and a front 3D laser sensor to avoid obstacles. None incorporate an AI camera or remote camera access, nor night vision LEDs.
The Mova E40 Ultra stands out for its pet recognition, a function absent in the Dreame L50 Ultra AE and in the Mova P50 Ultra. This allows the robot to adjust its behaviour when detecting animals, avoiding startling them or interfering with their resting areas.
The Mova P50 Ultra is the only one with curtain detection, which allows it to manoeuvre carefully near long fabrics hanging to the floor without getting tangled.
Both Mova models incorporate intelligent cleaning with AI CleanGenius, which optimises routes and adjusts cleaning parameters according to the type of dirt detected. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE doesn't include this function, although its greater power and brushing system partly compensate for this absence.
Autonomy and Battery
Battery capacity is identical in all three models: 5,200 mAh. We only know the autonomy of the Mova E40 Ultra, which reaches 210 minutes of operation. This figure allows cleaning medium-large homes without the need for intermediate recharges.
Autonomy data for the Dreame L50 Ultra AE and the Mova P50 Ultra are not available, although the equal battery capacity suggests similar performance. The Dreame's greater power could consume slightly more energy, but in practice this is usually offset by shorter cleaning cycles thanks to its greater efficiency.
Smart Functions
The ability to overcome obstacles varies slightly. The Mova P50 Ultra reaches 22 mm in height, whilst the Dreame L50 Ultra AE and the Mova E40 Ultra remain at 20 mm. Those additional 2 mm can make the difference on thresholds or thick carpets, although in most homes 20 mm proves sufficient.
All three models are compatible with external voice assistants such as Alexa or Google Home, but none have their own integrated assistant.
Multifunctional Cleaning Base
All three bases perform auto-emptying of the dust bin, mop washing with hot water and drying with hot air. The dust bag has a capacity of 3.2 litres in all cases.
The Dreame L50 Ultra AE and the Mova P50 Ultra incorporate third-generation washing tray self-cleaning, a function that isn't present in the Mova E40 Ultra. This reduces manual base maintenance, preventing dirt accumulation in the tray where the mops are washed.
The integrated detergent tank is only included in the Dreame L50 Ultra AE. In the Mova models it's optional and must be purchased separately, which represents an additional expense if you wish to use cleaning product during mop washing.
The water tanks present small differences. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE and the Mova E40 Ultra have 4.5 litres of clean water and 4 litres of dirty water. The Mova P50 Ultra slightly reduces these capacities to 4 litres of clean water and 3.5 litres of dirty water. In large homes, this may translate into some additional refilling of the clean tank.
The Dreame L50 Ultra AE offers a plumbing connection kit as an optional purchase, allowing the base to be connected directly to the water supply and drainage. This option isn't available for the Mova models. It's worth remembering that this kit is purchased separately and requires installation, so it's not a critical function for most users.
Dimensions
All three robots share identical dimensions: 350 mm in diameter and 97 mm in height. This height allows passing under most standard furniture without problems.
The bases present more variation. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE and the Mova E40 Ultra have practically identical designs: 340 mm wide, approximately 590 mm high and 457 mm deep. The Mova P50 Ultra adopts a wider but less tall format: 420 mm wide, 470 mm high and 458 mm deep. This more vertically compact design can facilitate its placement under worktops or low furniture.
Real-World Usage Experience
The Dreame L50 Ultra AE's greater power makes it the best option for homes with carpets or fitted carpets, where the 28,000 Pa make a real difference in dirt extraction. Its TriCut 3.0 brush is also more practical in homes with long-haired pets, although paradoxically it doesn't include specific animal recognition like the Mova E40 Ultra.
The Dreame L50 Ultra AE's automatic mop removal provides convenience in homes where there's frequent alternation between vacuuming only and mopping. The third-generation tray self-cleaning reduces maintenance, just as in the Mova P50 Ultra.
The Mova E40 Ultra stands out for its AI CleanGenius and pet recognition, an interesting combination for homes with animals where intelligent cleaning is sought without needing maximum power. The absence of tray self-cleaning requires more manual maintenance.
The Mova P50 Ultra offers the most complete balance between advanced functions and compact base design. Its ability to overcome 22 mm, curtain detection, liftable side brush and tray self-cleaning make it versatile for homes with varied obstacles. The lower base facilitates its integration in reduced spaces.
Conclusion: Which to Choose?
Choose the Dreame L50 Ultra AE if you're looking for maximum vacuuming power and have carpets or fitted carpets at home. Also if you value automatic mop removal to alternate between vacuuming and mopping without manual intervention, or if you prefer to have the detergent tank integrated from the outset. The TriCut 3.0 brush is especially useful with long-haired pets.
Choose the Mova E40 Ultra if you have pets and want the robot to recognise them to adjust its behaviour, or if you're interested in intelligent cleaning with AI CleanGenius to optimise routes and consumption. It's a good option for medium-sized homes with hard floors where 19,000 Pa proves sufficient and you don't need maximum power.
Choose the Mova P50 Ultra if your home has long curtains, thresholds over 20 mm or you need a less tall base that occupies less vertical space. The combination of liftable side brush, curtain detection and tray self-cleaning makes it comprehensive for homes with varied obstacles. The ability to overcome 22 mm can make the difference in houses with thick carpets or pronounced level changes.
