Introduction

The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 and the Dreame L40 Ultra A represent two high-end propositions within the Chinese brand's catalogue. Both units incorporate a complete multifunctional base with auto-emptying, mop washing and drying, which positions them as options designed for users seeking maximum automation in home maintenance. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 arrived on the market in November 2025, whilst the L40 Ultra A was launched in April 2026.

At first glance, they share many technical characteristics: the same 5,200 mAh battery, identical dimensions in both the robot and the base, and a mopping system with two rotating mops at 180 RPM with RoboSwing extension. However, there are important differences in the brushing system and in some details of the base that are worth analysing before deciding.

Power and Suction

In terms of raw power, the Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 leads with 25,000 Pa of suction, exceeding the Dreame L40 Ultra A by 1,000 Pa. This difference can translate into better capacity to pick up ingrained dirt or heavier particles, especially on medium-pile carpets.

The most relevant difference lies in the main brush. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 uses a simple silicone brush, a design that facilitates cleaning and reduces hair tangles, ideal for homes with pets. The L40 Ultra A, on the other hand, opts for the TriCut 3.0 system, which combines bristles with integrated blades that cut hair whilst vacuuming. This approach proves effective in homes with long-haired pets, as it prevents the formation of tangles that are difficult to remove.

In the side brush system we find an interesting exchange of functions. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 incorporates an extendable side brush, which improves sweeping in corners and nooks by projecting outwards during cleaning. The L40 Ultra A dispenses with this extension but adds anti-tangle technology to the side brush, reducing hair accumulation in this area. Neither of them lifts the side brush during mopping.

Mopping

The mopping system is practically identical in both models. Both are equipped with two rotating mops that spin at 180 RPM and can lift 10.5 mm when they detect carpets or when returning to the base. The mop extension works through Dreame's RoboSwing system, which allows a slight lateral movement of the robot to bring the mops closer to edges and skirting boards.

Both mop with cold water, with no option to heat the water during the floor cleaning process. The base of both models washes the mops with cold water and dries them with hot air at 45°C, which helps prevent bad odours and bacterial growth. The self-cleaning of the washing tray is third generation in both cases.

Neither model includes dirt detection in mops or on the floor to adjust mopping intensity or perform additional passes. Nor do they allow automatic removal of mops at the base when only vacuuming is desired.

Navigation System

Navigation is an area where there are no differences. Both the Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 and the Dreame L40 Ultra A use a 360° LiDAR turret combined with a front 3D laser sensor for obstacle detection. Both models recognise pets and adjust their behaviour accordingly, although neither incorporates an AI camera nor remote access.

CleanGenius 3.0 technology is present in both units, allowing the robot to learn from cleaning patterns and optimise routes. They do not have a front LED for night vision nor do they detect curtains, so it's worth bearing this in mind if there are long textiles near the floor.

Autonomy and Battery

The battery capacity is 5,200 mAh in both models, with almost identical autonomy: 231 minutes in the L10s Ultra Gen 3 and 230 minutes in the L40 Ultra A. This one-minute difference is practically irrelevant in daily use. Both robots can cover large homes without the need for intermediate recharges, although the manufacturer does not specify the maximum recommended surface area.

Smart Functions

Both robots can overcome obstacles up to 20 mm in height, sufficient to navigate thick cables, small uneven surfaces or the edge of medium-thickness carpets. Neither incorporates a robotic arm nor its own voice assistant, although they are compatible with Alexa and Google Home for control via external voice commands.

Multifunctional Cleaning Base

Here an important practical difference appears. The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 includes an integrated detergent tank in the base, which allows cleaning product to be dispensed during mop washing without manual intervention. In the Dreame L40 Ultra A, this tank is optional and must be purchased separately, which represents an additional cost if this functionality is desired.

The rest of the base specifications are identical: 3.2-litre dust bag, 4.5-litre clean water tank and 4-litre dirty water tank. Both models offer a plumbing connection kit as an optional accessory, but it does not come integrated as standard. Neither incorporates UV disinfection nor an automatic mop changing system.

Dimensions

The measurements are exactly the same in both units. The robot has a diameter of 350 mm and a height of 97 mm, standard dimensions that allow access under most furniture with legs of at least 10 cm. The base measures 340 mm wide, 590 mm high and 457 mm deep in both cases, so they occupy the same space and require identical planning for their location.

Real-World Experience

For homes with long-haired pets, the Dreame L40 Ultra A has an advantage thanks to the TriCut 3.0 brush and the anti-tangle system of the side brush. These elements considerably reduce the time spent untangling hair from the robot. The L10s Ultra Gen 3, with its simple silicone brush, also works well with hair but requires slightly more attention in maintaining the side brush.

In homes with many corners and complicated nooks, the extendable side brush of the L10s Ultra Gen 3 makes a difference by projecting outwards and sweeping these areas better. The L40 Ultra A, without this function, may leave slightly more dirt accumulated in tight angles.

The extra 1,000 Pa power of the L10s Ultra Gen 3 is especially noticeable on medium-pile carpets or on floors with adhered dirt. For homes with predominantly hard flooring and frequent cleaning, the 24,000 Pa of the L40 Ultra A are more than sufficient.

The detergent tank included as standard in the L10s Ultra Gen 3 simplifies maintenance and improves mopping results without the need for additional purchases. In the L40 Ultra A, doing without this accessory does not prevent proper mopping, but washing mops with detergent always offers better results than with water alone.

Conclusion: Which One to Choose?

Choose the Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 if: you're looking for the maximum suction power available between these two models, you value the extendable side brush to improve cleaning in corners, you prefer to have the detergent tank included as standard without additional costs, or you have medium-pile carpets where those extra 1,000 Pa can make a difference. It's also a good option if your pets have medium-length hair and the simple silicone brush is sufficient for you.

Choose the Dreame L40 Ultra A if: you live with long-haired pets and need the TriCut 3.0 system to minimise tangles, you prefer the anti-tangle side brush to reduce maintenance in that area, you don't mind purchasing the detergent tank separately if you decide to use it, or you simply want the most recent model. The 24,000 Pa are more than sufficient for most homes with hard floors and regular cleaning.

In large homes, both robots offer practically identical autonomy and can cover large surfaces without problems. For small houses or flats, either of the two is suitable. The final decision will depend on whether you prioritise raw power and an extendable side brush, or prefer the more advanced anti-tangle brushing system of the L40 Ultra A.
