Introduction

Dreame presents three robot vacuum cleaners with multifunction base that represent the evolution of their high-end range between 2024 and 2025. The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 arrived in 2024 as a complete model with mopping capabilities and automatic mop washing. During 2025, two more advanced proposals were launched: the Dreame L40 Ultra AE and the Dreame X50 Ultra Blanca, each with significant improvements in power, navigation and autonomy.

These devices are designed for users seeking total automation in home cleaning. All three incorporate a multifunction base that auto-empties dust, washes and dries the mops with hot air, ensuring minimal maintenance. The difference lies in the level of sophistication: from a solid and proven option to proposals with advanced artificial intelligence and improved climbing capabilities.

Power and Suction

Suction power marks clear distances in this robot vacuum comparison. The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 offers 10,000 Pa, a competent figure for most homes. The jump to the Dreame L40 Ultra AE is notable, with 19,000 Pa that almost doubles the suction capacity. The X50 Ultra Blanca reaches 20,000 Pa, positioning itself as the most powerful of the three.

Regarding the brushing system, the differences are significant. The L10s Ultra Gen 2 uses a simple brush that fulfils its function but may present hair tangles more frequently. The L40 Ultra AE incorporates the TriCut 3.0 system, which combines bristles with blades to cut tangled hair during cleaning. The X50 Ultra Blanca takes it a step further with a double brush specifically designed to prevent tangles.

Main brush lifting during mopping is absent in the L10s Ultra Gen 2, which means the brush remains in contact with the floor even when mopping. Both the L40 and the X50 do lift the main brush, a function that prevents it from getting wet and allows more efficient mopping without dragging dry dirt.

The side brush also evolves between models. The L10s and L40 mount a conventional side brush without special capabilities. The X50 Ultra Blanca stands out with an extendable side brush that reaches corners better, liftable during mopping to avoid getting wet, and with anti-tangle design. This combination is especially useful in homes with pets.

Mopping

All three models share the two rotating mops system, but differences appear in the details. All include mop extension with the Roboswing system, which allows the robot to make a lateral movement to get the mops under furniture and ledges. Mop lifting reaches 10.5 mm in all three cases, sufficient to climb onto medium-thickness carpets without wetting them.

The mopping water is cold in all devices, something usual in this range. The base washes the mops with hot water in all three robots, which improves the removal of ingrained dirt. Drying is also carried out with hot air in all of them, reducing drying times and preventing bad odours.

An important functional difference: only the X50 Ultra Blanca can automatically detach the mops at the base when you want to perform a vacuum-only session. In the L10s and L40 you must remove them manually if you don't want the mops to touch the floor during vacuuming.

Dirt detection marks another separation. The L10s Ultra Gen 2 does not incorporate this function, whilst the L40 Ultra AE and the X50 Ultra Blanca detect both dirt on the mops and on the floor. This allows the robot to go over dirtier areas again, return to the base to wash the mops when it detects they are too dirty, and adapt the mopping intensity according to actual needs.

Navigation System

Navigation evolves significantly between these three robots. The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 uses a conventional LiDAR turret with front 3D laser sensor to avoid obstacles. It does not incorporate a camera, which limits its object recognition capacity although it does identify pets.

The Dreame L40 Ultra AE adds a camera with artificial intelligence that recognises up to 120 different types of obstacles. It incorporates LED for night vision and allows remote access to the camera from the app, a useful function for home surveillance. It maintains the LiDAR turret and the front 3D laser sensor.

The X50 Ultra Blanca represents the most notable leap with dual AI camera and retractable LiDAR. This design allows the laser sensor to hide when not necessary, reducing the total height of the robot. It recognises up to 200 types of obstacles, double that of the L40. It adds specific curtain detection to avoid getting tangled in them, a common problem in other models. Stain recognition through AI allows identifying areas that require more attention during mopping.

All three devices use the CleanGenius system for intelligent cleaning, although the X50 incorporates the AI Sage 13.0 processor that manages all this information more efficiently.

Autonomy and Battery

The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 and the L40 Ultra AE mount 5,200 mAh batteries. The L10s offers 240 minutes of autonomy, sufficient for medium-sized homes. The L40's autonomy is not specified, although with the same battery capacity but double the suction power, it is reasonable to expect somewhat lower times in maximum mode.

The X50 Ultra Blanca expands the battery to 6,400 mAh, a 23% increase that compensates for its greater suction power. The declared autonomy is 180 minutes, less than the L10s but with much superior working power. In practice, this larger battery allows covering large surfaces without the need for intermediate recharges.

All three robots automatically return to the base when the battery is low and resume cleaning once recharged. This function is especially useful in large homes where a single charge is not sufficient.

Smart Functions

The ability to overcome obstacles shows a clear evolution. The L10s Ultra Gen 2 and the L40 Ultra AE can negotiate steps of up to 20 mm, typical for transitions between rooms or small level changes. The X50 Ultra Blanca doubles this capacity with the ability to overcome single steps of 40 mm, something exceptional that allows access to areas that other robots would consider inaccessible.

Regarding voice assistants, all three models are compatible with Alexa and Google Home. However, only the X50 Ultra Blanca incorporates its own voice assistant integrated into the robot, allowing commands to be given directly without the need for external smart speakers.

Multifunction Cleaning Base

All three bases share identical dimensions and similar capabilities. All auto-empty the dust container into a 3.2-litre bag, wash the mops with hot water and dry them with hot air. The clean water (4.5 litres) and dirty water (4 litres) tanks are the same in all three models, sufficient for several mopping sessions without intervention.

Self-cleaning of the washing tray marks important differences. The L10s Ultra Gen 2 does not include this function, which requires manually cleaning the tray where the mops are washed from time to time. The L40 Ultra AE incorporates second-generation self-cleaning that notably reduces maintenance. The X50 Ultra Blanca debuts the third generation of this system, more efficient and with better waste management.

UV disinfection is only present in the X50 Ultra Blanca. This function uses ultraviolet light to eliminate bacteria on the mops after washing, an extra hygiene feature that can be valued in homes with small children or allergy sufferers.

All three robots accept a plumbing connection kit that is purchased separately, allowing the base to be fed directly from the water mains and evacuate dirty water to the drain. This option completely eliminates tank maintenance, although it requires installation near water supplies.

Dimensions

The diameter is identical in all three models: 350 mm. Height marks a relevant functional difference. The L10s Ultra Gen 2 and the L40 Ultra AE measure 97 mm high, a standard measurement that allows passing under most furniture. The X50 Ultra Blanca reduces the height to 89 mm thanks to the retractable LiDAR, gaining 8 mm that can be decisive for accessing under low sofas, beds or furniture with little clearance.

The bases share exact measurements: 340 mm wide, 590.5 mm high and 456.7 mm deep. This space should be considered before purchase, especially the depth which exceeds 45 cm.

The robot's dust container varies: 300 ml in the L10s versus 395 ml in the L40 and X50. This difference allows the two most recent models to accumulate more dirt before returning to the base, useful in intensive cleaning or homes with a lot of dust. The robot's water tank is 80 ml in all three cases.

Real-world experience

For small or medium-sized homes without pets, the L10s Ultra Gen 2 offers a complete experience with automatic mopping and reduced maintenance. Its 240 minutes of autonomy covers surfaces of up to 200 square metres without problems. The absence of dirt detection and AI camera does not represent a real inconvenience in simple environments.

The L40 Ultra AE adapts better to more demanding homes. The 19,000 Pa power is effective on medium-pile carpets and the AI camera improves navigation in spaces with many objects. Dirt detection optimises mopping, especially useful in kitchens or high-traffic areas. Tray self-cleaning reduces manual maintenance.

The X50 Ultra Blanca is designed for users seeking the best robot vacuum without compromises. The ability to overcome 40 mm steps opens up possibilities in homes with level changes. The 20,000 Pa of power combined with the double anti-tangle brush works exceptionally well with pets. The reduced height allows access to spaces that other robots cannot reach. Automatic mop detachment facilitates alternating between vacuuming and mopping without manual intervention.

In homes with pets, the L40's TriCut brush improves notably compared to the L10s' simple brush. The X50 takes it a step further with its double brush system and anti-tangle side brush, minimising maintenance related to tangled hair.

The difference between which robot to choose also depends on ease of use. The L10s requires manually cleaning the washing tray and removing the mops to vacuum without mopping. The L40 eliminates the first task. The X50 automates both, adding UV disinfection and greater obstacle recognition capacity.
