Introduction

This comparison pits three high-end robots launched in 2025 against each other, but with quite different approaches. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra represents the brand's most ambitious technological offering, whilst the Roborock Qrevo S5V and the Roborock QV 35A occupy different positions within Roborock's catalogue. All three include a multifunction base with auto-empty, mop washing and drying, features that set them apart from more basic models.

The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra is aimed at users seeking maximum automation and advanced AI functions. The Roborock Qrevo S5V is positioned as a balanced unit with good power and solid features. The Roborock QV 35A, with lower suction power, targets homes where mopping and intelligent navigation are priorities over extreme vacuuming.

Power and Suction

The difference in suction power is notable. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra reaches 19,000 Pa, a figure that places it amongst the most powerful robots on the market today. The Roborock Qrevo S5V offers 12,000 Pa, sufficient for most domestic situations. The Roborock QV 35A remains at 8,000 Pa, adequate for daily maintenance but less effective against ingrained dirt or dense carpets.

The brushing system also varies. The Dreame incorporates a dual HyperStream brush, specifically designed to reduce hair tangles, something that's appreciated in homes with pets. The Roborock Qrevo S5V features the DuoDivide anti-tangle system, which pushes hair towards the centre to facilitate suction. The Roborock QV 35A uses a single brush, less advanced in this respect.

Only the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra lifts the main brush during mopping, preventing it from getting wet and improving results on hard floors. This function is also present in the Dreame's side brush, which is additionally extendable to sweep corners better. Both Roborock models keep the brushes fixed during mopping. All three units include an anti-tangle side brush.

Mopping

All three robots mop with two rotating mops, but the differences appear in the details. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra extends the mops towards the edges and incorporates the Roboswing system, a swinging movement that allows the mop to reach under furniture and overhangs. The Roborock Qrevo S5V also extends the mops, although without the additional movement. The Roborock QV 35A doesn't feature mop extension, being limited in edge mopping.

Mop lifting reaches 10.5 mm in the Dreame and 10 mm in both Roborock models. Minimal differences that in practice work similarly to protect medium-thickness carpets.

The Dreame stands out by automatically removing the mops at the base when only vacuuming is desired, avoiding dragging them unnecessarily throughout the house. This function isn't present in the Roborock models. Additionally, the Dreame detects dirt both on the mops and on the floor, adjusting washing and scrubbing as needed. The Roborock models lack this intelligent detection.

At the base, the Dreame washes the mops with hot water and dries them with hot air, the same as the Roborock Qrevo S5V. The Roborock QV 35A washes with cold water and dries with cold air, a less effective system for removing adhered dirt and bad odours. Only the Dreame incorporates third-generation washing tray self-cleaning and an integrated detergent tank, reducing manual maintenance.

Navigation System

All three robots use a LiDAR turret for mapping and navigation, but the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra adds multiple layers of intelligence. It incorporates a dual AI camera, front 3D laser sensor and LED for night vision. It recognises up to 180 different types of obstacles, including pets and curtains, adapting its behaviour according to what's detected. Additionally, it allows remote camera access from the app.

Both Roborock models are limited to the LiDAR turret and basic obstacle avoidance. They don't include an AI camera or front 3D sensor, which reduces their recognition and intelligent adaptation capability. For homes with pets or many objects on the floor, this difference can be particularly noticeable in cleaning fluidity.

Both the Dreame and the Roborock models integrate AI-based intelligent cleaning systems (CleanGenius in Dreame, SmartPlan in Roborock), but only the Dreame adds specific stain recognition for automatic intensive scrubbing.

Autonomy and Battery

All three robots feature a 5,200 mAh battery, but effective autonomy varies. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra achieves 220 minutes of operation, compared to 180 minutes for both Roborock models. This 40-minute difference can be decisive in large homes or complete floors without interruptions.

The Dreame's greater suction power doesn't excessively penalise autonomy thanks to efficient resource management. In practice, these times allow covering large surfaces without needing intermediate recharges.

Smart Functions

The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra overcomes single steps, although the table doesn't specify the exact height. Both Roborock models cross obstacles up to 20 mm, sufficient for most transitions between rooms and medium-thickness carpets.

The Dreame integrates its own voice assistant, allowing direct control without going through the app. All three robots are compatible with Alexa and Google Home for integration into home automation ecosystems.

Multifunction Cleaning Base

All three bases include auto-empty, mop washing and drying, but with differences in capacity and functions. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra offers a 3.2-litre dust bag, 4.5-litre clean water tank and 4-litre dirty water tank. Both Roborock models reduce these figures to 2.7 litres of dust, 4 litres of clean water and 3.5 litres of dirty water.

Greater capacity means fewer manual emptying and refilling operations, especially relevant in large homes or with intensive use. The Dreame also incorporates a detergent tank that automatically doses during mop washing, something absent in the Roborock models.

The Dreame's washing tray self-cleaning (third generation) reduces manual maintenance and prevents dirt accumulation. The Roborock models require periodic manual cleaning of this area. Neither includes UV disinfection nor direct plumbing connection, although the Dreame offers an optional connection kit that must be purchased separately.

Dimensions

The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra measures 350 mm in diameter and 103.8 mm in height. Both Roborock models have 353 mm in diameter and 96.5 mm in height. This 7.3 mm difference can be determining for passing under low furniture, clearly favouring the Roborock models.

The bases also differ. The Dreame reaches 590.5 mm in height and 456.7 mm in depth. The Roborock models measure 521 mm in height and 487 mm in depth. The Dreame's base is taller but less deep, something to consider depending on available space.

Real-World Experience

The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra adapts better to large homes thanks to its greater autonomy, tank capacity and suction power. Advanced obstacle and pet detection makes it especially suitable for homes with animals and many objects on the floor. Automatic mop removal and the detergent tank minimise manual interventions.

The Roborock Qrevo S5V offers a solid balance between power, mopping and autonomy. Its lower height facilitates access under furniture, compensating for the absence of an AI camera. It's suitable for medium-sized homes without extreme automation needs.

The Roborock QV 35A is aimed at spaces where regular mopping matters more than intense vacuuming. Its lower power limits performance on thick carpets or difficult dirt. The absence of hot water washing and mop extension reduces mopping effectiveness compared to the other two models.

Conclusion: Which to Choose?

Choose the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra if you're seeking maximum automation and available technology. Ideal for large homes with pets, where the 19,000 Pa power, 220-minute autonomy and intelligent obstacle detection make a real difference. Automatic mop removal, the detergent tank and tray self-cleaning reduce maintenance to a minimum. The investment is greater, but the features justify the price for demanding profiles.

Choose the Roborock Qrevo S5V if you prefer a balanced robot with good power (12,000 Pa) and reduced height to pass under furniture. It offers mopping with hot water and drying with hot air, important functions that the QV 35A doesn't have. Suitable for medium-sized homes where Roborock's reliability and good overall performance are priorities without needing the Dreame's most advanced functions.

Choose the Roborock QV 35A if your priority is daily maintenance in small or medium-sized homes without thick carpets or extreme dirt. The 8,000 Pa is sufficient for dust and light dirt. The absence of mop extension and hot water washing limits its effectiveness in intensive mopping, but its reduced height and Roborock's reliability make it a valid option for tighter budgets within the high-end range.
