Introduction

The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra, the Mova P50 Pro Ultra and the Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X represent three high-end propositions in the robot vacuum segment with multifunction base. The first two are 2025 models that share a manufacturer —Mova is Dreame's second brand— whilst the Roborock arrives from 2024 with the experience of the world's leading brand in this sector.

All three units are designed for users seeking total automation in home cleaning. They include a self-emptying base, hot water washing and hot air drying of mops, which guarantees minimal maintenance and professional results in both vacuuming and mopping. The main difference lies in how each manufacturer implements intelligent navigation, the brushing system and some advanced functions that can make a difference depending on the type of home.

Power and Suction

The suction power is practically identical: 19,000 Pascals in the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and the Mova P50 Pro Ultra, compared to 18,500 Pa in the Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X. In practice, this difference of 500 Pa is imperceptible in day-to-day use.

Where things do change is in the design of the main brush. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra features a HyperStream dual brush system designed specifically to prevent hair tangles. The Mova P50 Pro Ultra opts for the TriCut 3.0, which combines bristles with blades to cut hair whilst sweeping. The Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X uses the DuoDivide system, which pushes hair towards the centre to facilitate direct suction.

A clear advantage of the Dreame and Mova models is that they can lift the main brush during mopping. This prevents the wet brush from dragging dirt or leaving marks on delicate floors. The Roborock keeps the brush in contact with the floor even when mopping, which can be useful for vacuuming and mopping simultaneously in a single pass, although with less control over the mopping result.

All three robots include an extendable and anti-tangle side brush, with lifting capability during mopping. This means they can reach corners better without dragging hair or soiling the mops.

Mopping

The mopping system is one of the strong points of all three models. All use two rotating mops that wash and dry with water and hot air at 75°C and 45°C respectively. This temperature eliminates bacteria and prevents bad odours in the mops.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X spins the mops at 200 RPM, slightly faster than the 180 RPM of the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and the Mova P50 Pro Ultra. This can translate into slightly more intense mopping on difficult stains, although the difference is minimal.

Dreame and Mova incorporate the RoboSwing system, a swinging movement that allows the mop to get under furniture and overhangs. The Roborock also extends the mops towards the edges, but without that additional movement. For homes with lots of low furniture or complicated skirting boards, the RoboSwing can make a difference.

The mop lifting is very similar: 10.5 mm in Dreame and Mova, 10 mm in Roborock. Sufficient to pass over thin carpets without wetting them. But there is a function that only the first two have: automatic removal of mops at the base. If you want the robot to vacuum without mopping, Dreame and Mova remove the mops themselves. With the Roborock you will have to do it manually.

All three detect dirt both on the mops and on the floor, adjusting the number of passes and the intensity of mopping according to what they find.

Navigation System

Here appears one of the most important differences. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and the Mova P50 Pro Ultra feature dual AI camera with front 3D laser sensor, LED for night vision and remote access to the camera from the app. This allows them to recognise up to 180 and 160 obstacles respectively, identify pets, detect curtains to avoid getting tangled and adapt cleaning according to the type of dirt.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X does not include a camera. It relies on its LiDAR turret and the RR Mason 11.0 algorithm, which has proven to be very reliable in millions of homes. Navigation is precise, but it does not have the level of visual object recognition that Dreame and Mova offer.

In practice, this means that the models with camera can avoid cables, slippers, small toys or pet excrement with greater precision. The Roborock will avoid them if they are large enough, but will not identify them visually.

Both manufacturers opt for intelligent cleaning with AI: CleanGenius 2.0 in Dreame and Mova, SmartPlan 2.0 in Roborock. All three adjust routes and power according to the level of dirt detected.

Autonomy and Battery

All three robots feature 5,200 mAh batteries, but performance varies. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra achieves 220 minutes of autonomy, the Mova P50 Pro Ultra reaches 210 minutes and the Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X stays at 180 minutes.

For homes of up to 150-180 m², any of the three will complete cleaning without problems. In larger houses, the Dreame offers an extra margin that can avoid intermediate recharges.

Intelligent Functions

The ability to overcome obstacles is another differential point. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra can handle single steps of up to 22 mm and double steps of up to 40 mm. The Mova P50 Pro Ultra overcomes 22 mm in single step, whilst the Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X reaches 20 mm.

This can be relevant if you have thick carpets, high thresholds between rooms or small unevenness in the floor. The Dreame has a clear advantage here.

The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and the Mova P50 Pro Ultra include their own voice assistant, in addition to compatibility with Alexa and Google Home. The Roborock only works with external assistants.

Multifunction Cleaning Base

All three bases perform dust self-emptying, mop washing with hot water at 75°C and drying with hot air at 45°C. The difference is in the details.

The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and the Mova P50 Pro Ultra have an integrated detergent tank, which doses automatically during mop washing. The Roborock does not include this function, you will have to add detergent manually to the clean water tank if you want to use it.

The dust bag capacity is larger in Dreame and Mova: 3.2 litres compared to the 2.5 litres of the Roborock. This can mean changing it every 60-70 days instead of every 45-50 days.

The water tanks also vary. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra carries 4.5 litres of clean water and 4 litres of dirty water. The Mova P50 Pro Ultra has 4 litres and 3.5 litres respectively. The Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X features 4 litres of clean water and 3 litres of dirty water. For large homes, the Dreame can mop more surface area without refilling the tank.

The self-cleaning of the washing tray is third generation in Dreame and Mova, compared to version 2.0 of the Roborock. This improves the hygiene of the base in the long term.

Only the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra offers an optional plumbing connection kit, which is purchased separately. It can be interesting if you want to completely automate the filling and emptying of water, although it is not a priority function for most users.

Dimensions

The Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X measures 98 mm in height, which allows it to slip under furniture more easily. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and the Mova P50 Pro Ultra reach 103.8 mm. If you have sofas or beds with little separation from the floor, those 5.8 mm can make a difference.

The diameter is practically identical: 350 mm in Dreame and Mova, 352 mm in Roborock.

The bases vary quite a bit in size. The Dreame's measures 340 mm wide, 590.5 mm high and 456.7 mm deep. The Mova's is more compact in height: 420 mm wide, 470 mm high and 458 mm deep. The Roborock has the most square base: 450 x 450 x 450 mm.

If you have little vertical space, the Mova or Roborock base will fit better. If you are looking for a narrower base, the Dreame wins.

Real-World User Experience

For homes with pets, all three robots work well thanks to their anti-tangle brushes and high suction power. But the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and the Mova P50 Pro Ultra add visual recognition of pets, which can avoid scares with excrement or toys.

In large houses, the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra has an advantage due to its greater autonomy, larger tanks and higher capacity dust bag. It can clean more surface area without human intervention.

If you have lots of low furniture, the Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X will fit better thanks to its 98 mm height. But if the furniture has overhangs or complicated skirting boards, the RoboSwing system of Dreame and Mova will reach those areas better.

For users who value absolute convenience, the automatic removal of mops from Dreame and Mova is a plus. You will never have to touch the mops if you only want to vacuum.

The integrated detergent tank in Dreame and Mova also simplifies maintenance. With the Roborock you will have to dose the detergent manually.

Conclusion: Which One to Choose?

Choose the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra if you are looking for the most complete robot in autonomy, tank capacity and advanced functions. It is ideal for large homes, users with pets and those who value visual recognition of obstacles. Its ability to overcome double steps of up to 40 mm makes it especially useful in houses with uneven floors. The option to add plumbing connection may also interest those seeking extreme automation.

Choose the Mova P50 Pro Ultra if you want practically the same features as the Dreame but with a more compact base in height. It shares manufacturer, technology and most functions, but its 470 mm high base can fit better in reduced spaces. It is a very balanced alternative with dual AI camera, RoboSwing and automatic removal of mops.

Choose the Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X if you trust the world's leading brand and prefer a lower robot that fits better under furniture. Although it does not have a camera or some functions of the other two, its LiDAR navigation with RR Mason 11.0 algorithm is very reliable. The mops at 200 RPM offer slightly more intense mopping. It is a solid option for those seeking effectiveness without complications, especially in medium-sized homes without pets or complex obstacles on the floor.
