Introduction

This comparison analyses three high-end robot vacuum cleaners launched between 2025 and 2026: the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra, the Dreame L50 Ultra AE and the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow. The first two belong to the same brand, whilst the third represents Roborock's offering, a global benchmark in this sector.

The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra arrived in 2025 as an advanced model with dual cameras and outstanding smart features. The Dreame L50 Ultra AE, launched in 2026, focuses on superior suction power and a more compact design. The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow, also from 2026, incorporates a roller mopping system and advanced navigation capabilities.

These devices are designed for homes seeking complete automation: they include multifunctional bases that wash and dry mops, auto-empty dust and intelligent detection systems. The choice will depend on specific priorities such as power, battery life, compactness or AI features.

Power and Suction

The Dreame L50 Ultra AE stands out with 28,000 Pa of suction, a figure notably higher than the 19,000 Pa of the L40s Pro Ultra and the 20,000 Pa of the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow. This difference can translate into better pickup of ingrained dirt, especially on carpets or tile joints.

Regarding the main brush, each manufacturer opts for different technologies. The L40s Pro Ultra features a dual HyperStream brush, designed to minimise hair tangles. The L50 Ultra AE incorporates the TriCut 3.0 system, which combines bristles with blades to cut tangled hair. The Roborock uses the DuoDivide anti-tangle brush, which pushes hair towards the centre to facilitate suction. All three raise the main brush during mopping, preventing it from getting wet.

The extendable side brush appears on both Dreame models, which improves corner cleaning. The Roborock lacks this feature. However, the L40s Pro Ultra and the Roborock lift the side brush during mopping, something the L50 Ultra AE doesn't do. All three devices include anti-tangle side brushes, with the Roborock being the only one with a dual side brush.

Mopping

Here the differences are significant. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and the L50 Ultra AE employ two rotating mops that extend to reach edges, as well as featuring the Roboswing system, which performs a lateral movement to insert the mop under furniture or overhangs. Both lift the mops 10.5 mm to navigate carpets or thresholds.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow uses a 270 mm roller, a different solution that covers more surface area in a single pass. It lifts the mops 15 mm and adds an additional lifting system on carpets. It also extends the mop for edges, but doesn't incorporate Roboswing-type lateral movement.

In dirt detection, the L40s Pro Ultra and the Roborock analyse both the mops and the floor, adjusting mopping as necessary. The L50 Ultra AE lacks these detection features. Both Dreame models allow automatic removal of mops at the base to perform vacuuming only, something the Roborock doesn't offer.

All three bases wash the mops with hot water and dry them with hot air, ensuring hygiene and preventing bad odours. Self-cleaning of the wash tray is present on all, being third generation on the Dreame models.

Navigation System

All three robots use a LiDAR turret to map the home and laser navigation with front 3D sensors. The major difference lies in the artificial intelligence cameras.

The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra integrates dual cameras with recognition of 180 obstacles, pet detection, curtains and remote access from mobile. It includes LED for night vision and the CleanGenius system, which adjusts cleaning according to the type of dirt detected.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow features an AI camera with recognition of 200 obstacles, pets, remote access and night LED. Its SmartPlan algorithm optimises routes and recognises stains for automatic re-mopping.

The Dreame L50 Ultra AE lacks an AI camera. It maintains the front 3D laser sensor to avoid collisions, but doesn't identify specific objects nor allow remote visual access. It also doesn't recognise pets, curtains or specific stains.

Battery Life and Battery

All three are equipped with 5,200 mAh batteries. The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow offers 242 minutes of battery life, followed by the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra with 220 minutes. Data for the L50 Ultra AE is not available, although it shares battery capacity with the L40s Pro Ultra.

In practice, these figures allow cleaning of large homes in a single session. The Roborock achieves greater performance despite having the same battery, possibly due to optimisations in the navigation algorithm or lower consumption of the roller compared to rotating mops.

Smart Features

All three robots overcome obstacles of 20 mm, except the L40s Pro Ultra, which handles simple steps without specifying exact height. This capability is useful for thresholds, thick carpets or small level changes.

The L40s Pro Ultra and the Roborock incorporate their own voice assistant, in addition to compatibility with Alexa and Google Home. The L50 Ultra AE only supports external assistants, lacking integrated voice on the robot.

Multifunctional Cleaning Base

All three bases perform auto-emptying of dust, washing of mops with hot water, drying with hot air and self-cleaning of the tray. The differences appear in capacities and additional features.

The Dreame models have a detergent tank, which dispenses product during mop washing. The Roborock doesn't include this option. The dust bag reaches 3.2 litres on the Dreame models, compared to 2.7 litres on the Roborock. For clean water, the Dreame models offer 4.5 litres against 4 litres for the Roborock; for dirty water, 4 litres compared to 3.5 litres.

Both Dreame devices support a plumbing connection kit, which is purchased separately and allows automatic filling and emptying of tanks from the domestic water supply. The Roborock doesn't have this possibility.

Dimensions

The Dreame L50 Ultra AE is the most compact in height, at 97 mm. This facilitates access under low furniture, beds or radiators. The L40s Pro Ultra measures 103.8 mm, whilst the Roborock reaches 119 mm, which may limit its passage under certain furniture.

In diameter, the Dreame models are around 350 mm and the Roborock 353 mm, minimal differences. Weight is not specified in the table.

The Dreame bases measure 340 mm wide, 590 mm high and 457 mm deep. The Roborock's is more square: 450 mm in all three dimensions. It occupies more lateral space, but is lower and less deep than the Dreame models.

Real-world usage experience

For large homes, the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow offers greater battery life (242 minutes) and good tank capacity. The L40s Pro Ultra, with 220 minutes and generous tanks, is also suitable. The L50 Ultra AE, without battery life data, compensates with greater suction power.

If there are pets, the L40s Pro Ultra and the Roborock recognise animals and adjust cleaning. Their anti-tangle brushes (HyperStream and DuoDivide) minimise maintenance. The L50 Ultra AE, although powerful, lacks pet recognition and its TriCut brush requires periodic hair inspection.

In homes with low furniture, the L50 Ultra AE stands out for its 97 mm height. The Roborock, at 119 mm, may have difficulties in confined spaces. For users who value remote visual control, the L40s Pro Ultra and the Roborock allow camera access from mobile, useful for surveillance or verifying cleaning.

The mopping system with rotating mops from Dreame, especially with Roboswing and extension, reaches difficult corners. The Roborock's roller covers more surface area per pass, ideal for large spaces without many obstacles. Dirt detection on the L40s Pro Ultra and Roborock optimises mopping without manual intervention.

Conclusion: Which to choose?

Choose the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra if you're looking for the balance between smart features and versatility. Its dual camera with remote access, pet and curtain recognition, together with the Roboswing system and dirt detection, make it a complete option. Ideal for homes with animals, young children or those wanting visual supervision. The 4.5-litre clean water tanks and detergent tank reduce maintenance.

Choose the Dreame L50 Ultra AE if you prioritise suction power (28,000 Pa) and compactness. At 97 mm height, it slides under furniture where others can't reach. Although it lacks a camera and advanced detection, its vacuuming capacity exceeds the other two models. Suitable for homes with difficult dirt, carpets or users who prefer a simpler but more powerful robot. The price is usually more competitive than the L40s Pro Ultra.

Choose the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow if you value battery life (242 minutes), recognition of 200 obstacles and a roller mopping system that covers greater surface area. Its AI camera, remote access and 15 mm mop lift make it versatile in large homes with carpets. The Roborock brand offers proven reliability and a well-regarded app. Suitable if you don't need a detergent tank and prefer a more compact base design in height.
