Introduction
Dreame presents three high-end robot vacuum cleaners that share a surname but hide important differences. The L40 Ultra arrived in 2024 as a premium model with advanced features, whilst the L40s Pro Ultra and the X50 Ultra Blanca are 2025 proposals that seek to improve specific aspects of suction, autonomy and navigation. All three are equipped with a complete multifunction base with auto-emptying, mop washing and drying, which places them in the most demanding segment of the market.
We're talking about robots designed for users seeking total automation. The differences aren't only in raw power, but in how they manage the battery, the type of main brush or the ability to recognise objects. The X50 Ultra Blanca also introduces a retractable LiDAR and UV disinfection, aspects worth considering according to the real needs of each home.
Power and Suction
Suction power marks clear distances. The L40 Ultra offers 11,000 Pa, a figure sufficient for most homes, but the L40s Pro Ultra jumps to 19,000 Pa and the X50 Ultra Blanca reaches 20,000 Pa. This difference is especially noticeable on thick carpets or in homes with pets that shed a lot of hair.
The main brush also changes. The L40 Ultra features a TriCut 3.0, which combines bristles with blades to cut tangled hair. The L40s Pro Ultra and the X50 Ultra Blanca opt for a dual brush system, a design that further reduces tangles and facilitates cleaning. All three models allow the main brush to be raised during mopping, preventing it from getting unnecessarily wet.
The side brush is identical in all three: extendable to better reach corners, raisable during mopping and with anti-tangle technology. This uniformity simplifies the choice if what you're looking for is good edge sweeping.
Mopping
The mopping system presents no functional differences between the three robots. All use two rotating mops with edge extension and Roboswing movement, which allows the robot to slightly insert the mop under overhangs or furniture. Mop lifting reaches 10.5 mm in all three cases, sufficient to pass over thin carpets without wetting them.
All three models automatically detach the mops at the base when you only want to vacuum, which prevents dragging them dry across the floor. They also share dirt detection both on the mops and on the floor, adjusting the scrubbing as necessary. The mopping water is cold in all three units.
The base washes the mops with hot water and dries them with hot air, a fundamental process for maintaining hygiene and avoiding bad odours. All three have a detergent tank that dispenses during mop washing. The water tank capacities are identical: 4.5 litres of clean water and 4 litres of dirty water.
Navigation System
Interesting nuances appear here. The L40 Ultra and the L40s Pro Ultra feature a traditional LiDAR turret, whilst the X50 Ultra Blanca debuts a retractable LiDAR. This latter system allows the total height of the robot to be reduced to 89 mm, compared to the 103.8 mm of the other two models. In practice, this can make the difference if you have low furniture or beds with little clearance.
The number of recognised obstacles grows progressively: 100 in the L40 Ultra, 180 in the L40s Pro Ultra and 200 in the X50 Ultra Blanca. More recognition means fewer manual interventions and greater real autonomy of the robot. All three are equipped with dual AI camera, front 3D laser sensor, pet recognition and curtain detection. They also allow remote camera access and have LED for night vision.
The processor varies: the L40 Ultra features AI Sage 11.0, whilst the X50 Ultra Blanca incorporates AI Sage 13.0. The L40s Pro Ultra doesn't specify processor version in the available data. All integrate intelligent cleaning with CleanGenius and stain recognition using AI.
Autonomy and Battery
The battery capacity of the X50 Ultra Blanca reaches 6,400 mAh, compared to the 5,200 mAh of the L40 Ultra and the L40s Pro Ultra. However, real autonomy doesn't follow that logic. The L40s Pro Ultra achieves 220 minutes with its smaller battery, the L40 Ultra reaches 194 minutes and the X50 Ultra Blanca remains at 180 minutes despite having more capacity.
This apparent contradiction is explained by the greater suction power of the X50 Ultra Blanca, which consumes more energy. For large homes, the L40s Pro Ultra offers the best balance between autonomy and features. If your home doesn't exceed 100 square metres, any of the three completes the cleaning without problems.
Smart Functions
The L40 Ultra can overcome steps of up to 22 mm, a specific figure that facilitates passage over small unevenness or flooring changes. The L40s Pro Ultra and the X50 Ultra Blanca specify ability to overcome single steps, without exact figure. In homes with transitions between rooms, it's worth considering this.
All three robots integrate their own voice assistant and compatibility with Alexa and Google Home. None are equipped with a robotic arm, a function that hasn't yet reached these Dreame models.
Multifunction Cleaning Base
The multifunction base is practically identical in dimensions and basic capacities. All three models auto-empty the dustbin into a 3.2-litre bag, wash the mops with hot water and dry them with hot air. The detergent tank is present in all.
The self-cleaning of the washing tray improves from the L40 Ultra to the 2025 models: second generation in the first, third generation in the L40s Pro Ultra and the X50 Ultra Blanca. This evolution reduces manual maintenance and improves long-term hygiene.
The X50 Ultra Blanca adds UV disinfection in the base, an exclusive feature that the other two don't have. All three offer an optional kit for connection to plumbing, an accessory purchased separately that allows you to forget about manually refilling and emptying tanks.
Dimensions
The diameter is uniform: 350 mm in all three robots. Height marks the real difference. The X50 Ultra Blanca measures 89 mm thanks to the retractable LiDAR, which allows it to slip under furniture where the L40 Ultra and the L40s Pro Ultra can't enter with their 103.8 mm. If you have low sofas or beds without clearance, this difference of almost 15 mm is decisive.
The robot dustbin also varies: 300 ml in the L40 Ultra and the L40s Pro Ultra, 395 ml in the X50 Ultra Blanca. Greater capacity means fewer trips to the base during cleaning, although as all three have auto-emptying, this aspect loses practical relevance.
The base dimensions are identical: 340 mm wide, 590.5 mm high and 456.7 mm deep. They occupy the same space and require the same clearance to function correctly.
Real-world experience
The L40 Ultra fits well in medium-sized homes without very thick carpets or need to pass under particularly low furniture. Its 11,000 Pa and 194 minutes of autonomy cover homes of up to 80-90 square metres without problems. The TriCut 3.0 brush manages hair well, although it requires somewhat more maintenance than dual brush systems.
The L40s Pro Ultra improves power to 19,000 Pa and offers the best autonomy of the three with 220 minutes. This combination makes it a solid option for large houses with carpets and pets. The dual brush reduces tangles and the third generation of tray self-cleaning decreases maintenance. The height of 103.8 mm may limit its access under some furniture.
The X50 Ultra Blanca is the most powerful with 20,000 Pa and the lowest with 89 mm, which makes it ideal for homes with low furniture and need for maximum power on carpets. The retractable LiDAR and recognition of 200 obstacles improve navigation in complex spaces. UV disinfection provides an extra hygiene benefit in the base. Its autonomy of 180 minutes is sufficient for medium-sized homes, although it doesn't reach that of the L40s Pro Ultra.
All three robots share a very similar mopping experience, with extendable mops, Roboswing and dirt detection. The multifunction base with hot water for washing and hot air for drying guarantees clean mops in each cycle. Remote camera access and pet recognition are useful if you want to monitor your home or locate your animals.
