Introduction

Dreame and Roborock have brought to the table three models that represent different approaches within the high-end range of robot vacuum cleaners with multifunctional base stations. The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2, launched in 2024, positions itself as a balanced device with advanced features. The Dreame L40 Ultra AE, from 2025, incorporates more recent technology with AI camera and improvements to the cleaning system. The Roborock Qrevo S5V, also from 2025, focuses on its DuoDivide anti-tangle brush and the brand's characteristic reliability.

All three models include a complete multifunctional base station: automatic dust emptying, mop washing and drying with hot air. This means they can manage mopping autonomously, washing the mops during cleaning and drying them afterwards to prevent bad odours. The difference lies in how they execute these functions and what technology they incorporate to adapt to different cleaning needs.

Power and Suction

Suction power marks notable differences between the three devices. The Dreame L40 Ultra AE leads with 19,000 Pa, almost double that of the L10s Ultra Gen 2 with its 10,000 Pa. The Roborock Qrevo S5V sits at an intermediate point with 12,000 Pa. This difference translates into greater capacity to vacuum embedded dust in carpets or heavier dirt.

The main brushing system presents three distinct philosophies. The L10s Ultra Gen 2 mounts a simple silicone brush, effective at reducing tangles but without cutting elements. The L40 Ultra AE incorporates the TriCut 3.0, which combines bristles with blades to cut tangled hair. The Roborock opts for its DuoDivide anti-tangle brush, designed to push hair towards the central suction gap and minimise tangles.

An important difference: the L40 Ultra AE can raise its main brush during mopping, something that neither the L10s Ultra Gen 2 nor the Roborock can do. This allows for purer mopping by preventing the brush from touching the wet floor. As for the side brush, only the Roborock Qrevo S5V integrates anti-tangle technology in this component. None of the three models offers an extendable side brush for corners.

Mopping

All three robots use two rotating mop systems, although with slightly different speeds. The Roborock Qrevo S5V spins its mops at 200 RPM, whilst both Dreame models do so at 180 RPM. The difference is minimal in daily practice.

All can extend their mops to better reach edges. Both Dreame models do this through the RoboSwing system, which adds a swinging movement to get the mop under furniture overhangs. The Roborock also extends the mops, although without specifying this additional movement. Mop lifting is practically identical: 10.5 mm on the Dreame models and 10 mm on the Roborock, sufficient to climb over thin carpets without wetting them.

The Dreame L40 Ultra AE introduces two exclusive functions in this comparison. It detects dirt both on the mops and on the floor, which allows it to automatically re-mop particularly dirty areas. This intelligence applied to mopping is not present on the L10s Ultra Gen 2 or the Roborock Qrevo S5V.

The mop washing water temperature clearly differentiates the L40 Ultra AE, which washes with hot water at 75°C. Both the L10s Ultra Gen 2 and the Roborock wash with cold water. Hot water helps to better dissolve grease and disinfect the mops. All three dry the mops with hot air at 45°C, matching this important function to prevent bad odours.

The L40 Ultra AE includes second-generation self-cleaning of the washing tray, absent on the other two models. This reduces manual maintenance of the base station.

Navigation System

All three devices mount a 360° LiDAR turret for home mapping and laser navigation. All include obstacle avoidance, but the technological approach varies.

The Dreame L40 Ultra AE is the only one with an integrated AI camera, which allows it to recognise up to 120 different types of obstacles. It includes a front LED for night vision and remote camera access, functions that neither the L10s Ultra Gen 2 nor the Roborock offer. This camera can be used for home surveillance when the robot is not cleaning.

Both the L10s Ultra Gen 2 and the L40 Ultra AE incorporate a front 3D laser sensor, absent on the Roborock Qrevo S5V. This sensor complements navigation to detect low obstacles. Both Dreame models recognise pets, a function that the Roborock does not specify.

Regarding intelligent cleaning, the Dreame models use CleanGenius 2.0, whilst the Roborock employs SmartPlan 1.0. Both systems optimise routes and adapt cleaning according to the type of surface detected.

Battery Life and Battery

All three robots share the same battery capacity: 5,200 mAh. However, the declared battery life differs. The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 offers 240 minutes of continuous use, the highest figure in this comparison. The Roborock Qrevo S5V reaches 180 minutes. The Dreame L40 Ultra AE does not specify battery life, although it shares battery capacity with the L10s Ultra Gen 2.

The difference in battery life may be due to the energy consumption of additional components. The L40 Ultra AE, with greater suction power and AI camera, probably consumes more energy than the L10s Ultra Gen 2. In large homes, it is worth considering this data to prevent the robot from having to return to charge mid-clean.

Smart Features

All three models can overcome obstacles up to 20 mm in height, sufficient to pass over thick carpets or small level changes between rooms. None incorporates a robotic arm or its own voice assistant, but all are compatible with Alexa and Google Home for voice control via external assistants.

Multifunctional Cleaning Base Station

All three base stations perform automatic dust emptying, mop washing and drying. The dust bag capacity is larger on the Dreame models: 3.2 litres compared to 2.7 litres on the Roborock. This means fewer bag changes per year.

The clean water tanks also favour the Dreame models with 4.5 litres, compared to 4 litres on the Roborock. Dirty water is stored in 4 litres on the Dreame models and 3.5 litres on the Roborock. These differences allow the Dreame models to mop larger surfaces without manual intervention.

Only the two Dreame models include a detergent tank in the base station, which dispenses product during mop washing. The Roborock Qrevo S5V does not offer this function. Both Dreame models have an optional plumbing connection kit, which is purchased separately and allows the base station to be connected directly to the drain and water supply. The Roborock does not offer this option.

Dimensions

The diameter of the robots is practically identical: 350 mm on the Dreame models and 353 mm on the Roborock. The height too: 97 mm on the Dreame models and 96.5 mm on the Roborock. These millimetric differences do not affect the ability to pass under furniture.

The base stations present greater variation. The Dreame models measure 340 mm wide, 590.5 mm high and 456.7 mm deep. The Roborock measures the same width, but is lower (521 mm) and slightly deeper (487 mm). The Roborock base station takes up less height but requires more forward space.

Real-World User Experience

The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 works well in medium to large-sized homes thanks to its 240 minutes of battery life. Its silicone brush reduces hair tangles, although without cutting elements like the TriCut. The absence of an AI camera limits obstacle recognition compared to the L40 Ultra AE, but the front 3D laser sensor compensates to a large extent. Mop washing with cold water is less effective against grease than hot water.

The Dreame L40 Ultra AE is aimed at users seeking maximum power and technology. Its 19,000 Pa allows for more effective vacuuming of thick carpets. The AI camera with remote access adds home surveillance. Mop washing at 75°C and dirt detection for automatic re-mopping raise the level of mopping. The TriCut 3.0 brush cuts tangled hair better than simple silicone. It is the most complete option of the three, ideal for homes with pets and high cleaning demands.

The Roborock Qrevo S5V stands out for its DuoDivide anti-tangle brush, especially effective with long hair. The side brush also incorporates anti-tangle technology, something exclusive in this comparison. With 12,000 Pa, it offers intermediate power sufficient for most situations. The absence of a detergent tank requires manual addition of product if desired. Its 180 minutes of battery life are adequate for flats up to 150-180 m². The more compact base station in height may fit better under low shelving.

Conclusion: Which One to Choose?

Choose the Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 if you are looking for a balance between advanced features and a more contained price. Its 240-minute battery life is ideal for large homes. The RoboSwing system and mop extension improve edge mopping. It includes a detergent tank and the possibility of a plumbing connection kit. It is a solid option if you do not need the AI camera or hot water washing of the superior model.

Choose the Dreame L40 Ultra AE if you want the most advanced technology in this comparison. Its 19,000 Pa makes a difference on carpets and embedded dirt. The AI camera with 120 recognised obstacles, remote access and front LED add surveillance and night navigation. Mop washing at 75°C and dirt detection for automatic re-mopping raise mopping to another level. The liftable main brush and TriCut 3.0 complete a very comprehensive package. Perfect for homes with pets, young children or high cleaning demands.

Choose the Roborock Qrevo S5V if you value Roborock's reliability and need the best anti-tangle system. The DuoDivide brush and anti-tangle side brush minimise maintenance in homes with long hair or pets. Its 12,000 Pa offers sufficient power for most surfaces. The lower base station can be an advantage if vertical space is limited. Bear in mind that it does not include a detergent tank or plumbing connection kit, and mop washing is with cold water.
