Introduction
Dreame presents three distinct proposals within its robot vacuum catalogue, all launched in 2025 but with very different cleaning philosophies. The Dreame D20 Pro Plus opts for a powerful suction system with static mop and a traditional self-emptying base. The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3, presented in November 2025, already incorporates a complete multifunction base with rotating mops and automatic washing system. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra represents the brand's most advanced range, with dual AI camera and professional mopping capabilities.
Each model is designed for different needs. The first works well in homes where mopping is not a priority or manual maintenance is preferred. The other two are aimed at those seeking total mopping automation, with significant differences in artificial intelligence and detection capability.
Power and Suction
The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 stands out with a suction power of 25,000 Pa, the highest in this robot vacuum comparison. It is especially useful on carpets or for homes with pets that shed a lot of hair. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra remains at 19,000 Pa, whilst the D20 Pro Plus offers 13,000 Pa. This difference is noticeable in practice when picking up heavier debris or cleaning textiles.
The brushing system marks another important distinction. Both the D20 Pro Plus and the L40s Pro Ultra feature the dual HyperStream anti-tangle brush, a design with two brushes anchored at one end that prevents long hairs from wrapping around the roller. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 uses a simple silicone brush, less effective at preventing tangles but which also reduces maintenance.
All three models have an extendable side brush to better reach corners. However, only the D20 Pro Plus and the L40s Pro Ultra have an anti-tangle side brush. The L40s Pro Ultra goes further: it is the only one that raises both the main brush and the side brush during mopping, preventing them from getting wet and optimising results on hard floors.
Mopping
Here we find the biggest difference between these Dreame robot vacuums. The D20 Pro Plus uses a static mop without automatic washing capability. It works for basic maintenance, but requires the user to wash the mop manually after each use.
The Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 and the L40s Pro Ultra incorporate two rotating mops at 180 RPM with side extension and RoboSwing movement, which allows the mop to reach under furniture and ledges. Both raise the mops 10.5 mm when detecting carpets or areas where they should not mop. The difference lies in the washing: the L10s Ultra Gen 3 washes the mops with cold water, whilst the L40s Pro Ultra does so with hot water at 75°C, which improves the removal of grease and bacteria.
Only the L40s Pro Ultra includes dirt detection both on the mops and on the floor. When it detects that the mops are dirty or that an area of the floor needs more attention, it returns to the base to wash the mops or scrubs the area until it is clean. Additionally, it can automatically remove the mops at the base when it only needs to vacuum, something the other two models do not do.
Navigation System
All three Dreame robot vacuums use a 360° LiDAR turret to map the home and a front 3D laser sensor to avoid obstacles. The difference lies in the artificial intelligence.
The D20 Pro Plus lacks an AI camera and does not recognise specific objects or pets. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 incorporates the CleanGenius 3.0 system and recognises pets, but also has no camera. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra features a dual AI camera with night vision LED, recognises up to 180 different obstacles, detects pets and curtains, and allows remote access to the camera from the mobile. It uses CleanGenius 2.0 and AI stain recognition to adapt cleaning to each situation.
In practice, this means that the L40s Pro Ultra can identify socks, cables, toys or pet excrement and avoid them with precision. It also adjusts the power and type of cleaning according to the level of dirt it detects visually.
Autonomy and Battery
All three models feature a 5,200 mAh battery, but autonomy varies according to each system's consumption. The Dreame D20 Pro Plus achieves 285 minutes of operation, the longest of the three. The L10s Ultra Gen 3 offers 231 minutes and the L40s Pro Ultra remains at 220 minutes. This difference is explained by the higher suction power and additional AI systems and cameras that consume more energy.
For large homes, the D20 Pro Plus has an advantage in pure autonomy. The other two compensate with greater cleaning efficiency thanks to their intelligent systems, which avoid passing over the same areas several times.
Smart Functions
All three robots overcome obstacles of 20 mm height, sufficient for most thresholds and thin carpets. The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra stands out with the ability to overcome single thresholds of 22 mm and double thresholds of up to 40 mm, useful in homes with pronounced level differences or thick carpets.
Only the L40s Pro Ultra integrates its own voice assistant, in addition to compatibility with Alexa and Google Home which it shares with the other two models. This allows giving it commands directly without going through external applications.
Multifunction Cleaning Base
The Dreame D20 Pro Plus has a self-emptying dust container base with a 5-litre bag, the largest in this comparison. It does not wash or dry mops, so mopping maintenance falls to the user.
The L10s Ultra Gen 3 and the L40s Pro Ultra feature a third-generation multifunction base that self-cleans the washing tray. Both have clean water tanks of 4.5 litres and dirty water of 4 litres, with detergent tank included. The dust bag is 3.2 litres in both cases. Both offer an optional plumbing connection kit, which is purchased separately.
The difference lies in the drying: the L10s Ultra Gen 3 dries the mops with hot air at 45°C, whilst the L40s Pro Ultra adds mop washing with hot water at 75°C in addition to drying at 45°C. This hot water washing better removes grease and reduces bacterial proliferation.
Dimensions
All three robots have a 350 mm diameter. Height varies slightly: 96.8 mm in the D20 Pro Plus, 97 mm in the L10s Ultra Gen 3 and 103.8 mm in the L40s Pro Ultra. This difference of almost 7 mm can be relevant for passing under very low furniture.
The bases have different sizes. The D20 Pro Plus measures 298 mm wide, 452 mm high and 440 mm deep, the most compact. The multifunction bases of the L10s Ultra Gen 3 and L40s Pro Ultra are more voluminous: 340 mm wide, around 590 mm high and 457 mm deep. It is advisable to measure the available space before deciding, especially if seeking a base that takes up little room.
Real-world experience
The Dreame D20 Pro Plus works well in homes where vacuuming is prioritised over mopping. Its greater autonomy and 5-litre dust bag make it suitable for large houses. The dual HyperStream brush proves effective with pet hair. However, mopping with a static mop requires manual intervention and does not offer results comparable to systems with rotating mops and automatic washing.
The L10s Ultra Gen 3 provides total mopping automation with rotating mops, side extension and automatic washing. Its 25,000 Pa power makes it the best robot vacuum in this comparison for carpets and pet hair. The CleanGenius 3.0 system optimises cleaning routes. The absence of an AI camera limits its ability to recognise small objects, but the front 3D laser sensor avoids collisions with furniture and large obstacles.
The Dreame L40s Pro Ultra offers the most complete experience. The dual AI camera with recognition of 180 obstacles, dirt detection on floor and mops, and washing with hot water at 75°C guarantee professional mopping results. Automatic mop removal allows vacuuming without wetting the floor when unnecessary. The ability to overcome double thresholds of 40 mm extends its versatility in homes with level differences. Remote camera access adds surveillance functionality.
