All these robot vacuum cleaner models are brothers, manufactured by 3irobotix, and its older brother is the 3irobotix CRL-200S model. Each brand designs its own case and little else. They all have the same parts, the same consumables and of course the same design errors. We leave you a list of some of the models we are talking about:

The water problem they have is very important, and we think that ALL the vacuum cleaners of these models must be modified , if possible before the first use in any way that includes scrubbing, to avoid the entry of water inside them and the problems That this entails.

From Vacuum Spain we recommend these modifications, but only you are responsible for applying them well and for any damage they may cause.


ISSUE:

There are two versions of the 2 in 1 tank, they differ by the length of the water outlets.

Both deposits must be modified. The length of these water outlets are the main problem of water seepage inside the vacuum cleaner. They are too short and the water don´t fall directly on the mop, part of this water remains in the compartment where the tank is fitted, from there it filters through the joints inside the vacuum cleaner, causing serious problems in the electrical systems. Some sensor may stop working, cause damage to the motherboard, leading to a malfunction of the robot, for example, some wheel stops working, or your robot simply becomes non-operational.

Other ideas to lengthen the outputs while you get the 3D pieces.

You can adapt any idea that you can think of to lengthen the water outlets, as long as they do not force the material of the water outlets, let the tank enter correctly (click to insert it). We propose you some ideas:

SOLUTION FOR DEPOSITS WITH SHORT OUTLETS:

Silicone rubber hollow parts   6mm to (0.24 inch):

In the tank of short exits it has not given a good result lengthening the 3D pieces since they have to be glued and any blow can cause damage to the tank, therefore the best solution that has been found is to put some hollow rubber pieces, which They place in the holes at the ends of the compartment where the tank is fitted, make the water outlets fit perfectly and under pressure, and ensure that no water escapes. You will have to enlarge the hole of the hollow piece of rubber by cutting a little the part that will be protruding from the hole. You can look for them in a hardware store or then I put a purchase link, they must choose the model 6mm a (0.24 inch).

ALTERNATIVE WHILE YOU GET THE RUBBER HOLLOW PIECES:

6 x 35 mm anchor.

Cutting these anchors to a length of 14mm from the head, they will do the same function as the rubber pieces, but not being so flexible they will seal the hole worse. Therefore, although they are easier to get, we recommend that you use them temporarily while you get the 6mm A (0.24 inch) hollow rubber pieces.

OTHER IMPORTANT MODIFICATIONS:

If your mop covers the holes in the mop holder where the water should come out, you should cut that area of ​​the mop adjustment strip to allow free water flow to the mop. Do it as seen in the image.

Another way to get water into the robot is by condensation, by the Venturi effect, from the wet mop during scrubbing, water rises through the holes. You have to cover the unused holes of the compartment where the tank fits, it is useful using a piece of insulating tape covering the two center holes of the compartment where the tank fits and the four center holes of the bottom of the vacuum cleaner, as seen in the images:

With these modifications we will avoid the entry of water from the robot. If at any time they see water in the robot again, you must check that the tank don´t have water leaks due to any union.     But there is one thing which is not clear to me. Does the short outlet (which is not modified in your case) attaches directly to the hole (interior of water compartment)? It looks to me, that water could still get away. Because, it looks the outlet is bigger than the hole and can’t get into it. Or did I confuse something?

    I just bought one Vacuum Mop P (Global version) on May 11. When I use Vacuum and Mop mode, I see everything’s ok, I didn’t found any waters in the robot when I removed the tank. Do you think that will happen to me?

    1. I am not sure in the newest global ones, but I believe that if your tank is equal to the photos in the guide it is likely that it can happen to you. The fix is easy and cheap, in my personal opinion I would be safer making the modifications, but it is a personal decision.

    Thanks a lot for this tutorial. I’ve got a slightly different issue on mine, the water is not used anymore (even if I put the water level to high). I look at the tank and 2 holes are still here and not blocked, I tried to let the cap opened, I don’t know where the issue is coming from.
    Does this robot have a pump or it’s only gravity?

    1. This robot has an electric water pump, but it works by vacuum, if the cap is open the water comes out, but if you close the cap the water stops coming out. The electric pump introduces air into the tank and then water comes out, thus controlling the flow of water the robot. When you open the tank lid, does water come out?

    I just came across your site because my Cecotec Conga 3490 stopped working.
    Whenever I start the robot it only moves around in circles and stops after 1 minute with an error.
    I have already tried everything that is listed in the manual but nothing works.
    The issue started today after cleaning with water. May this be connected to this issue?
    Is it worth to write Cecotec for guarantee , or is it better to send it back to amazon?

    1) How many 3d pieces should I print? I have the global mi mop pro version (it doesn’t matter, I just not sure how many straws there are).
    2) Why I should cut that area of ​​the mop adjustment? Should I do it even if I put the 3d pcs?
    3) Same questions of 2, but now just for the blue tape.
    I will do (1) but if I don’t do (2) and (3) I will have water in the robot? I am very afraid about it.

      1) 2 pieces.
      2) It isnt necesary, only if the mop tape covers the holes where the water has to pass.
      3) We think the blue tape is necesary. It is only is tape you can remove in the future.

          2. These holes are for the only water tank, if you havent got that tank, you dont use them. The water can enter for Venturi effect for these holes, we think the best is put tape and cover them. You can’t cover 4 in the up side because the 2 in 1 tank use thems for fit it.

          3. I have 3 tanks: Dirt tank, water tank, dirt+water tank (combined). I use sometimes the 3 tanks, sometimes the dirt, sometimes the dirt+water, etc… So should I put the blue tape or not? Or the blue tape is only if I use the water tank only? So If I use the water tank, I need to put the blue tape, and when I use the dirt tank/dirt+water tank I need to take off the blue tape?

  6. My issue which I have been experiencing at 2 weeks, not enough water is coming to pad, strangely there is no water in basement which means , tank is not dropping enough water,

    Even I change water level from software, nothing changed, any idea ?

  8. I’ve bought the cecotec model 3490 elite and never had any kind of problem with water leakage. I don’t think this model is affected by that error. Also I would think the brand would already recalled all defect models if this was happening to the majority of the robots.

    I doubt about all this leakage issue…

  9. Hi. I live in Germany and my 2in1 dust Box + water tank stopped working (I think I broke it myself when cleaning). I am looking to buy a replacement, but on all sites I could find in Europe & China (geekmaxi, AliExpress, gearbeste and others) have the tank sold out. I even looked on the cecotec store in Germany, with no success. Does anyone know where I could buy one? I only found a shop in Singapore which sells it for 40€, including shipping it gets to 50€, +import VAT -> 60€, which I find a bit too much compared to the prices for the water tank (below 20€) or for the 2in1 on the sites where it is sold out (20-30€)…

  10. Hi, my V2 pro has problem that 2 in 1 water tank pump to much water at the first operation. The mop get very wet. Either i choose low, medium or high level. And it make the robot could not work properly. It looks very confusing. Looks like it can read the map well. But if i replace the tank with vacuum only or mop only. It can work properly. Thanks
